With the Penang state government barely 2 weeks old, our people’s CM – YAB Lim GE has come out with a pledge of 3 NOs for him during his tenure as the leader of the state.
1. NO to being addressed YB/YAB.
Our Mr. Lim GE is a very down to earth man. At least, our dear blogger 5xMom is willing to testify for that and insist the she is right to death! Anyway, we all know his ‘colourful’ political background and we certainly know that he is the CM of the people. Unlike many other state assemblymen from the previous regime, once elected to the office, they expect people to address them YB here and YB there. Respect must be earned. Not demanded. We are not kaki bodek! We got the ability to see who’s working and who’s not. Who’s sincere and who’s only know how to shed tangisan buaya!
That’s why I’m pretty sure that even though Lim GE would not like others to address him YB, yet many will still do so because he has managed to earn a respectable place in the hearts of many people.
2. NO to being confered with State Titles.
The decision not to accept any State Titles during his 1st tenure as CM shows that our Mr. Lim GE has both his feet firmly on the ground. He refused to be taken away by the big DAP victories scored in Penang during the last election and he demanded his State Exco to perform before they are allowed to be confered with state titles. Show your result first before you think of being a datuk datuk or Tan sri tan sri… As he has always reiterated that DAP must not and CANNOT fail to deliver their promises to the people. “Failure is NOT an option” or else, Lim GE knows very well that they reign in Penang might last for a single term only. So for those aspire to be Datuk or Tan Sri, make sure you walk your talk first. If you still insist to be a ’Datuk’ without any contribution to the people, just ask ur children to born some grandchildren for you to be their datuk lor….
3. NO to Official CM Residence.
I wonder how our previous CM, Dr. Koh managed the CM Residence for the past 18 years. As Mr. Lim GE tried to move into the building, he found the ceiling was ‘Bocor’ and as the result, the building required a major renovation before it is fit for someone to live in it. Hmmm… how come in Penang also we got the ‘Bocor’ case and yet our Dr. Koh was sitting on it doing nothing. If, I say again IF he has repaired the ‘Bocor’ earlier, I believe the renovation cost would not need to be as high as RM300K! In fact, the ‘Bocor’ on the ceiling could have been dated some 15 years ago!
With that cost in his mind, Lim GE has decided not to move into the official CM residence and thus, willing to compromise on his safety as he seek a new place to call his own. The CPO has been a worried man lately as our new CM is still living is his old daddy’s house in Island Glades where security arrangements will not be easily managed. The issue on the ‘terrible & horrible’ state of our CM official residence indeed raised a question in my head – Where the heck was Koh Tsu Khoon live for the past 18 years when he was the CM? He is very ‘nuah‘!!
Just give him a break la… He has been a gracious loser and we shud move on from here. Penang has wasted 18 precious years under him (jus look at how he treat his own official residence) and we can only learn from such lesson so that we will and should not repeat a mistake of electing a wrong leader ever again.
