ALOR STAR: A High Court here has ordered blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin, the group chief editor and editor of PKR’s organ Suara Keadilan to pay a total of RM7mil to Universiti Utara Malaysia and its vice-chancellor Tan Sri Dr Nordin Kardi for libel.
My dear fellow bloggers out there, please be careful of what u say and write in your blog. Now, there’s precedent in the court of law for persecuting bloggers which they claimed as ‘blogs abuser’. Hmmm… I onli know of drug abuser is against the law. Now blog abuser is also against the law ah? I tot that we’re free to express what we think, how we feel on a particular subject on the Net. But now, the court says “Not Anymore!” Sigh… After controlling our mainstream media, now want to control the bloggers on the Net pulak! Malaysia is getting more & more ridiculous each day.
After getting a favourable verdict, UUM VC ‘arrogantly’ confronted the press and blurred this statement to the world of bloggers, “Maybe I will not get the money because they cannot afford it, but I am satisfied because this case proves there is an avenue in the form of civil action against bloggers who hurl slander,” he told Bernama. Nordin also said that his victory would inspire others, including politicians, to take legal action against people who abuse blogs.
Inspiration my foot! Victory my ass! Don’t be feeling so ’satisfied’ yet. You may have won the battle. But you haven’t won the War. This verdict may give you satisfaction. But be rest assured that it will not put out the zeal of flame among the bloggers to keep on supplying REAL news to a thirsty nation for the truth! We have had enough with the rubbish supplied to us through the MSM. We have also seen enough the real condition of our country’s judiciary system. Lingam & Co has proved to the world how ‘dependant’ some of our judges were. So dependant that sometimes, they didn’t even know how to pass a judgement! So what do u think about your victory now? It’s not so great after all, isn’t it? You’re in a situation where even if you win hands down, majority of the people will think you’ve have not won! It feels awful right? But I don’t think you’ll feel that. Coz you don’t even have any feeling at all. That just make you even pitier… Therefore, while you indulge in your sweet ‘victory’, I’ll continue to blog without any fear or worry!
