Bersih 2.0 to Stadium Merdeka while Najib leaves country

We Salute the brave Ambiga!

Latest update @ 5:30pm: Bersih 2.0 has FAILED to get a police permit for its rally in Stadium Merdeka tomorrow but have insisted that they will continue to stand firm on their decision to hold the rally there despite their failure to get the nod from the authority to do so. Datuk Ambiga (pic) and her steering committee has given out words to all Rakyat to gather at the stadium at around 2 PM to show how resolute they are in demanding the government for electoral reforms in Malaysia.

Malaysiakini reports that according to Bersih representative Andrew Khoo, they would hold the demonstration if necessary, outside the Stadium Merdeka as the stadium management has repeatedly deny them approval for entry.

“We are heading for the stadium,” he told AFP. ”We will keep our focus on the basic demands… which is to campaign for free and fair elections. We won’t be distracted.”

Khoo condemned the police response as a “gross over-reaction” and called for the protesters to be allowed inside the stadium to preserve safety.

“It is such a breach of the fundamental right of freedom of movement. There is no risk to public order because we have always maintained this will be a peaceful gathering,” he said.

Datuk Ambiga has also lambasted the government led by Najib Razak of being too sensitive and reminded them that the city of Kuala Lumpur belongs to all Rakyat. Therefore, it is very unconstitutional for the government to bar anyone including herself and the steering committee of Bersih 2.0 from entering the city tomorrow.

As time ticks towards the 9th of July 2011, we Rakyat is holding our vigils on the imminent clash between the peaceful marchers of Bersih 2.0 and the violence-provoking Men-in-Blue who we believe will do their ‘kotor’ jobs to ensure disruptions to this rally. BeEnd and its cohorts will try their best to create chaos in order to ‘find excuses for their unprofessional goons of policemen to enforce their will upon the hapless marchers!

Bye Bye... ISA is coming soon folks...

Meanwhile, our PM Najib Razak has ‘surprisingly’ decided that this is the best time for him to cabut out of the country despite the fact that the country’s capital Kuala Lumpur is facing times of turmoil.

With his absence in the country, I fear for the worst when the might of ISA could come down hard on Bersih 2.0 Ambiga and company. It has been a practise these days for our top leaders to leave the country whenever the abuse of ISA going to take place in our country. It started well with our Old “M”an mahathir’s infamous Ops Lalang in 1987 when more than 100 opposition leaders and social activist were arrested and the Old “M”an claimed ignorant on the matter as he was out of the country during the arrest took place.

I wonder how in the world can Najib Razak decide that this is the best time for him to visit UK and the Pope in Europe when the country is facing uncertain times whereby the socio-politics situation is hanging like an egg on the tip of a horn. Either he already has a ‘solution’ in place and knows what is going to take place soon to ‘solve‘ the Bersih 2.0 problem, he SHOULD NOT leave the country at this very moment and turn the blind eye to any future events which is going to take place! This only shows how irresponsible our top leaders in the country are when facing with a crisis at hand!

Regardless of what is going to happen soon, I’m no prophet and will not be able to tell so. Anyway, let’s hope that ISA will not be dished out in order to douse our Rakyat’s constitutional rights of free speech and free assembly. Let us hope that tomorrow will be a day to remember – a day where the People has spoken out, the day of People’s Power…
